The Fear

"Fear is all in the mind ...
But Mia’s nightmares become a reality when she and her troubled sister, Jamie, inherit their deceased uncle’s house and experience phenomena that extends way beyond a typical haunting. Only Mia’s infant daughter is aware of the sinister presence of a man that roams freely about the house, but it’s Jamie who has become the subject of the entity’s torment.
No one’s secrets stay buried for long, and the psychological abuse that the family are forced to endure soon turns physical, with the demon’s attachment to Jamie taking on a sexually violent nature. When the evil spreads beyond the boundaries of the house and wreaks chaos in the lives of those closest to Mia, she knows that she must uncover the house’s past, along with the identity of its ghostly inhabitant, in order to sever his hold on anyone who enters." (Netgalley)

Fear is a perfect title for this book because it will put fear into your mind and heart..

We follow Mia, her daughter Louisa, and Mia's sister Jamie throughout this story of horror. They recently had to put their mother into a care home for Alzheimer's disease, due to a incident at their original house. Once that happened they had to sell their home, and move into their recently passed Uncle's home where they could afford to live and take care of their mother. Except once they move in things begin to happen, strange things...

The first to experience this sinister feeling in the home is the youngest Louisa, who can see what she calls the "shadow man" and listens to him rant and rave about Mia, and Jamie. She begins to draw pictures and begins cursing at people in her life. (mind you she is very young only 5-6 years i believe). Mia works at a catering hall, where one day during a "halloween themed" party, Mia who already had a scare earlier in the day see's someone upstairs where no guests are allowed- as she follows this person upstairs she comes to a window to find her "mother" hanging from a tree- once someone else see's Mia running out of the building toward the tree- they chase her down and calm her down enough to see it is not her mother but an elderly woman who hung herself.
Now why is this detail so important? We find out later but the scare Mia had earlier that sent her into crazy mode- well she was in the bathroom and see's this figure who appears to be her mother except she's dead and screaming at her "THIS IS YOUR FAULT!" then as Mia tries to escape the horrid image she slips and is forced into the tub which is now filled with blood water and her mother's ghost is trying to drown her...

Sounds insane right? Well this book gives you chilling detail one after another, and the imagery it puts inside your head will have you running for the hills!
A must read for any fan of Horror!!
